Essential Apps You Should Install on a New PC Running Windows or macOS

Picasa 3 will browse picture folders nicely ... May be obsolete now however

Does anyone know a good blu ray player preferably for free? They're such a pain.
btw.
For images the FastStone image viewer is sublime.
AnyVideoConverter is also a useful freeware.

I also wanted to add another image viewer to the list.
I tried many, and before I mentioned Honeyview, which is great but memory hug.
Other good image viewers, on top of the ones already suggested:
ImageGlass
Nomacs

I'm using the latter as my default image viewer and it's great. The only issue is a slow start, but it could depend on the fact the I'm using the portable version from a SATA hard drive, rather than running it from my SSD. Other than that, it's more memory efficient than other viewers (with XNview & IrfanView still the best in that regard) and can be configured as a complete borderless viewer, which feels nice.

I usually when I do a clean install of windows get Chrome VLC media player Avast antivirus Microsoft office win RAR and Daemon tools lite.

Total Commander has been my choice of file manager for 20 years. After hearing about Double Commander, I checked it out. At first there is differences. But after a few changes in the options, I can make Double Commander look and operate exactly as I have Total Commander configured. I'd even be willing to bet Double Commander is more configurable than Total Commander.

One of the nice things I like about Double Commander vs Total Commander. Total Commander is not cross-platform, where as Double Commander is cross-platform. If I was to migrate to Linux, I'd have no choice but to switch to Double Commander.

Extra information for anyone interested in using Double Commander.

It is compatible with:
Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Unix, and BSD.

I like to have a YouTube downloader.
I have a 1.4 GHz computer & videos constantly rebuffer over 240P at YouTube.
So I download them as MP4 & play them on WMP.
Mostly as 1080P (full HD).
Then I delete them after watching them.
I do this a lot with videos by Sir David Attenborough.
The Queen was right to make him a "Sir". :)
There are lots of video downloaders out there.
Some free & some paid.
Watching a video that is of high quality without it jamming up & buffering is a good thing to me.

You lost me with CCleaner! I feel this is more of an advertisement than actual advice
Who is the "You" you are referring to ?
Your response is a bit vague.

Have you ever used CCleaner ?
https://www.ccleaner.com/

EDIT--- I've used it since it was called Crap Cleaner.
It works good & I've never had a problem with it.
Make a system image of your OS & try it out.
If it causes problems, reinstall from your system image. :)

Edit 2--- That is if you can trust restore points or a program like Macrium Reflect.

Didn't apple have a whole marketing campaign stating it's not a PC and that PC users are ugly and fat. So isn't PC always running windows or linux? Or was apple just lying and it is a PC?
