In the end, nothing accomplished. It's all to entertain the public with instant gratification. The power plants which provide the electricity are still "dirty." It's okay though, the knuckleheaded Liberal types are satisfied.

As China is making serious efforts to clean up their electricity grid and it's getting less carbon-intensive every year I would say you are blowing smoke. The fact that even the worst electrical generation is far more efficient than an I.C.E vehicle makes electrification always a good idea. That and removing millions of tonnes of toxic to life particulates and nox from built-up areas makes removing Diesel engines a very good idea.
