Every time I plug my cable modem into the USB drive I get a BSOD

Hi Guys

Got a problem which is driving me insane. Every time I connect the modem via any of my USB connections. The computer recognises the modem but then a BSOD appears with the following error

STOP : 0x000000d1 (0x000000, 0x0000002, 0x000000, 0x000000)

If I then reboot but remove the USB it all loads in fine. The following then appears:

The system recovered from a serious error:

BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : 00000000 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000 BCP4 : 00000000, OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP 2_0, 768 _1

If I don't connect the modem all programs run ok, but as soon as I connect BOOM! up pops the BSOD.

I've run anti-virus scans through AVG 7.5 and Norton, but nothing.

Any help on this would be greatly apreciated.

P.S I'm currently using my friends MAC in case you were wondering how I'm able to post?

That is weird. maybe theres just something wrong with the modem device. Dont buy a new one or anything yet.

Check to see whether or not you have the right drivers.

And thank your friend for letting you on his mac to post :)

Cheers guys

Tom Mask: already thanked my mate several time for allowing me to use his MAC he's a lifesaver, as I cant connect to the internet at the mo.

Any ideas on where to get up to date drivers?, as the PC picks up the hardware as a usb cable modem no problems and starts to install the driver I assume, before the crashing. Any ideas on the error messages I posted?

As before all ideas and work arounds gratefully accepted on this one.

How could anyone help you find a driver when you posted NO information about your equipment?

:)

Hi there ..

Pentium 4 2.6 GHz
512 DDR ram
SEAGATE 80GB ATA100 7200RPM HDD
ATI Radeon 9200 128mb Graphics
Soundmax intergrated sound card

.. any motherboard? :)

The USB ports are usually on the motherboard itself .. if you know the model of the motherboard you can download the latest drivers from the manifacturers site ...

Cheers
