Expect RTX 3000 shortages to get even worse this quarter, warns retailer

Not a trend, this is the new normal. Gaming is the most popular hobby on earth and so accessible. As people are divided by the class war that perpetually rages, the elites wanna put some distance between the tiers.
No....you need to go outside more....the reason for the shortage is mining....period. Greed drives this. I still have no idea why they call these graphics cards...should just call them mining cards that you can also play games with....

"Nvidia apologizes for RTX 3080 launch, promises more cards are coming" - September 21, 2020:

I said back then that nVidia was insulting our intelligence and the only one who liked my post was Goat11. That's ok, I've been around long enough to know that this was coming and that nVidia was perfectly happy to sell to scalpers and miners.

I learned to never trust nVidia more than a decade ago. I've come to expect arrogance, lies and deceit in everything they say and do. It's about time that everyone realises that this is how nVidia operates because they've never failed to meet my expectations even once.

dont waste your time.

The fanbois will continue pushing their agenda, like the individual here that somehow says get a 3090 (and the mods removing post that contradict him, so keep an eye on this disappearing post).

Nvidia is dirty to the absolute core and will roll over even their own customers, but somehow, people are still praising and worshiping them....

It's like being a battered spouse or a die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions. No matter how much abuse they take and how much heartbreak they endure, they still love them. I just shake my head and wonder how on Earth that this is possible.

Unless you get sponsored to make next gen look like it‘s a must have...

Tell me about it.

Thats why I simply stopped watching anything from LTT and only watch Hardware Unboxed.

Example, how many times has Steve said "At his point, RT is a gimmick and DLSS 2.0 even though is nice, its only supported in a couple of games, hence another gimmick until more support"?

Yet here we are, with the rabid ones spewing the same thing over and over "RT RT" and "DSLSS"!!

And about LTT, last video that made me unsubscribe was about PCI 4. Intel has nothing with it and its irrelevant in the subject, yet being a loyal Intel paid shill, Linus said, keep an eye on Intel for when they release it".

Seriously?

Yeah, very few YouTubers have any morals or integrity left, like Steve.

I sure loved it when Linus tore a big strip off of nVidia when nVidia blacklisted Steve and Tim. He was so angry that he reminded me of a rabid Chihuahua (which was side-splittingly funny). He was wearing a tuque so he also reminded me of a very annoyed garden gnome with that beard of his. Nevertheless, he did step up and have some serious words for nVidia.

I agree that very few TechTubers have any morals left which is why I badly lament the loss of AdoredTV. Jim was second-to-none when it came to knowledge of the tech industry and how it has unfolded over the past decades and was great at demonstrating how we got from there to here. I also like TimmyJoeTech, but I'm biased there because I know him personally. However, I've never seen him being biased in either direction. I've seen him piss all over the RGB companies when they deserved it.

He might had been pissed at nvidia that day, but right away, continued making videos with nvidia cards, didnt mentioned one bad thing done by nvidia, didnt took the opportunity to educate the rabid followers in the many dirty and anti consumer crap the nvidia is still pulling, etc.

im not familiar with TimmyJoeTech, but will definitely check it out.

Boy, am I glad that I bought my RX 5700 XT when I did. These shortages and prices are through the roof.

I saw the same model of RX 580 that I bought less than a year ago for $132 going for $450. I want to flip that card, but it's for my backup rig.
I got a 5600XT last fall. At the time I thought it was an unfortunate timing, but turns out I got lucky.

I got mine for 100 in 2019 and sold it for 300 almost a day ago.....bought a 2060form someone for 45 bucks more and called it a day.....it a backup card for my other rigs...they all have nvidia cards so I thought best if I needed to swap , which I hope not itd be easier this way

That's true but that's also what he has. It's an unfortunate fact that nVidia cards have been the most potent cards around lately and when you're running a business and have been given some of these monsters, you use them. TechTubers don't choose what they have and use because it's completely based on what performs best and who gives them what. Linus may be still using nVidia equipment but I can guarantee you that he didn't pay for it so he's not really supporting them.

Like, I won't deliberately buy anything from either Intel or nVidia. However, I was given an i7-2600K (with a mobo) and while I don't actually use it, if my mother wants a PC upgrade from the Phenom II X9 940 that she currently uses, I'll give her the i7 because it will be a speed monster to her (considering that she's perfectly happy with the P2-940) but it doesn't mean that I support Intel because supporting them means deliberately buying their products.

Also, I have an ASUS craptop with an AMD R5-3500U. It was a good deal, costing me $750 (which was the going rate for the R5-3500U at the time) but had extra features that other competing models at that price point didn't have. It had a backlit keyboard, 4 USB ports instead of 2 or 3 and a mobile GeForce GTX 1050. I thought "Ugh, it's got that green logo that I hate but nVidia makes good stuff and it's not like I'm paying extra for it so what the hell." and bought the thing because it would have been stupid for me not to. To date, I've only used the GTX 1050 to see just how good the hardware video encoding is with CUDA. I use the RX Vega 8 IGP as the default GPU and I generally leave the GTX 1050 disabled to reduce power use. However, down the road, the 1050 may make my craptop live longer because it is significantly more potent than the Vega 8 IGP.

I didn't support nVidia because I didn't go out looking to spend money on one of their products, it just ended up that I got one essentially for free, just like the i7-2600K. If someone offers it to me at no cost, I'm not going to turn it down but there's no way that I'm going to specifically buy one of their products or pay extra for one because that would be supporting them. In Linus' case, he's just using what he has since he has it. For him to stop and switch to Radeon would just result in a bunch of e-waste. I don't blame him for that.

He's streaming out of North Bay, Ontario. Really cool guy who likes to joke around a lot and comes up with some pretty creative ideas for his show. I remember him messing around with different coolers on an Alienware RTX 2080 Ti. He and I DM back-and-forth on twitter from time to time. He's awesome and funny as hell.

Good luck finding a RTX 3060 at $329. My bet is that the chances of finding it at MSRP is precisely zero, bot or not.

I think it's significant to add that for the first time in my life I have been forced to hold on to a GPU for 5 years (GTX 1080) and what is more there's no end in sight in the sense that this ridiculous situation with the shortages might drag on for another 2-3 years.

I never had to repaste a GPU before b/c I upgraded every 2-3 years but now it looks like I will have to repaste in anticipation for the summer.
