Explorer.exe eating up CPU.

Guys, I need help. explorer.exe is eating up my CPU like crazed hyena. I don't know what might have started this problem. Might be some really old DOS games I was playing: blocks, jezzball, hangman, dangerous dave, dots, sticks, jewel thief, gobman, paranoid, bow & arrow are some of the games I played before the onset of the problem. Soon after, my PC became slower; it takes like five minutes for the desktop icons to appear when I press the Windows key in the middle of any 3D game, keep in mind that these games are not recent, all are over 8 years old. Just before the problem began, task manager reported that Explorer.exe (upper case e) was running. Now it is reporting explorer.exe (lower case e). It also takes forever for the task manager to open. When it opens CPU usage is 100% and the mouse pointer moves in slow motion. Under "Processes", explorer.exe uses 95-99 of the CPU. At this point I sometimes feel like crushing the PC to pieces. By the way, during all this time the "Hard Disk Is Busy" light is on. Ending explorer.exe usually normalizes things. Maybe it's a virus or trojan, don't know. But I update my AVG Free 7.5 daily and after scanning nothing is found. I scanned my PC using SmitFraudFix and HijackThis, here are their logs, if they may be of any help (I understand nothing on them other than the running processes).
