I doubt they use the microphone to continuously listen to your conversations. the hardware and battery requirements are not trivial for such a task.

Lol... yet people complain their batteries are draining faster and faster all the time, without them adding use to their devices...

You see nothing, but that doesn't stop the listening. You can argue that it doesn't impact you because you don't see them, but does it really mean this doesn't impact you? You're being eavesdropped on....but I suppose if that doesn't bother you then you have nothing to be concerned about.

I also have no camera or mic hooked up tp my PC so all they're going to hear is crickets

Fakebook is trash, they censor anything that doesn't follow their agenda and tell you what to see and what not to see. Good example is Trumps shooting and the picture of him under the flag with blood running down his face.

This has got to be covered under the illegal wiretap laws.

It's probably listed on the numerous pages of the privacy offered, likely hidden with legalese and within a section that wouldn't easily be found. Like Google or Microsoft, all your content belongs to us! Accidental or deliberate in nature, blah blah... (not a quote)
