"Far Cry patch 1.2 has shown unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations. These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users. We're currently asking CRYTEK to work on delivering a new patch as soon as possible. Until then we have decided to remove the patch 1.2 from the official UbiSoft websites."

That was Ubi's official statement this morning after a huge number of users started to have problem with the newly released patch. I heard there was a problem with ATI boards however the game ran pretty well for me (9800 Pro) with the patch installed, multiplayer still is buggy though... not to mention Ubi's forums had been down for the last few days.

It's not all bad news for CryTek though, this morning they announced a new strategic partnership with publishing giant Electronic Arts to develop and publish a new game franchise.

No problems for me so far, on my 9700 Pro. I'm very happy with this patch. This game looked great already, now it looks even better.

ole farte has posted in the original 1.2 patch release thread, that nvidia has accused ATI for a 500K payoff to crytek to recall the patch and include ATI optimizations..ATI also is bundling Doom 3 w/ their x800 and 9800xt cards to overcome nvidia's bite into ATI marketshare.

haha SOB, well, read some more, the patch breaks allot of stuff, like 5.1 sound, the binoculars and many different things...

Nvidia users are also having problems... It just seems the ATI guys are complaining a bit more... That forum is just such a pity to read, everyone just bashing on and on and on...

well said, PER. i really do not care which side emerges w/ the better product. it would seem that a payoff of that magnitude would induce a retraction to accomodate ati optimizations. just telling like it is in the real world.. the fact that everyone can't accomodate upgraded issues w/ far cry, would seem to be issues of being on the cutting edge. being so far behind the curve, that, issues would surface. something like i'm expecting to a certain degree w/ hl2 and doom3.
