Their developers also tried to gaslight everyone into thinking firefox's implementation is "opt in" while asking for people to trust them. These developers hate you and think of you as children.
There are literally millions of people who would switch away from MSFT 365 (aka Office 365) and would pay a decent annual fee to Mozilla, if they only could obtain
1) Updates that don't make things worse
2) No telemetry and other surveillance that gets secretly sold to governments (yes, even to the ones we know are
crazy dictators)
3) No Windows RECALL, which is a completely insane privacy intrusion for any person or business, that is by law
required to keep financial, bank, insurance, medical, patent, tax, social security, etc etc DATA SAFE, which you
cannot accomplish with what RECALL does. Microsoft's promises are worthless.
4)A company that bundled, and fully EXPLAINED software like LIBRE OFFICE, GIMP, Thunderbird, even on a full on
Linux basis, explained for the NON-TECHIE. That includes the idea to be able to run "certain software not made
for Linux" on Linux without hassle and secret data deals to MSFT to accomplish that.
But NOOO, now Mozilla wants to delve into the absurdly unprofitable AI playing field!! Not a single software company in the world has made their first dollar of true profit on this (Meaning: Gross Income less the investment into AI less the
ongoing business costs)
What is AI good for: Some science research applications, data analysis for Advertising and for Surveillance of everything. What is it not good for? Replacing humans with AI, to lay more people off!
What will AI lead to? Higher profits for a select few companies, while the majority of humanity will be left on
the sidelines, UNEMPLOYED!
Will there be a guaranteed income for these folks? No, judging from the greed within the whole AI mania, this won't be happening. I have nothing but ZERO TRUST for these investment and software geniuses, because too many times
they have lied and lied again about how great their accomplishments are, with results being in many way a complete
letdown.
I don't even want to think about how basic human requirements will be taken care of, like food, shelter, clothing, medicine, entertainment, when the great majority cannot pay for any of these things.
I am opposed to all this, because INSTEAD of bringing the GREATEST GOOD FOR THE GREATEST NUMBER OF PEOPLE, the whole attitude of AI is a proposition that leads ONLY to the GREATEST GOOD FOR THE TINIEST NUMBER OF BILLIONAIRES. This is neither a Luddite or leftist idea on my part, and I do not wish to sell fear/chaos/panic, but it
a well-considered projection into the future. If am wrong, I will be surprised, and I will bet one whole US Dollar to be divided among all those who feel wronged by my opinion. I calculate this out for you, because three french hens from the orient told me to be nice:
So 100 pure copper pennies contain about 2.04E+24 copper atoms
Next if only 10% of the world population appreciates my ranty blabber, then
8,300,000,000. times 90% is 7,470,000,000 people , who need to be justly
compensated for the pain of suffering through disagreement.
Thus, 2.04E+24 copper atoms divided by 7,470,000,000 comes down
to a mere 221,204,819,277,108 copper atoms per each. That's a lot of
atoms for not that much value, but to be fair, that's what it is. Oh, you want it
spelled out?
Ok, it's 221 trillions, 204 billions, 819 millions, 277 thousand and 108 copper atoms
per each.
The actual division of the copper atoms in 100 copper pennies I will leave
to an independent judgment panel of expert miners, math dudes, physicists,
biologists, psychiatrists and Federal Reserve presidents. Not a single software
person will be invited, because can you even trust them to test software? Eh?
If nothing else, you learned how tiny copper atoms really are.
Put another way, AI is over-hyped, over-invested, and overbought.
Arguing from yet another perspective, have you seen how little concern any of the big time companies in AI have for
the well-being of humanity at large? I think that AI is only a "specialized intelligence" whose outcomes can constantly be tweaked to show what the investors want. (Musk tinkering with Grok is just a minor example).
Thus, it is a given that all AI will be lacking in any humane touch, any humane understanding. It will NOT have a
CONSCIENCE, why, because that would be TOO NICE. Without a conscience (a basic understanding of which
rules and ideas work best for humanity to live and work and cooperate in relative peace), AI will not provide
any of that. It's not that it could not do so, it's simply that it is told and programmed from the top down not to give a flying cluck about us, the people, the humans.
And that is why the Mozilla Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation, is apparently just now making the biggest mistake in their existence. You wanted a comment? Now, THAT's a comment!
