Flash Game Design Start

My Toshiba Laptop has some basic additional programs like Firefox, Itunes and Quicktime, but I want to begin designing games. i was basicly told to start with something like Flash and I found a service that uses that and Quicktime. I now see that the Quickitme that installs with iTunes is realy limited, and I want to know what in total I'm going to need to upgrade, update, or pay for in order to start making flash games.

I've tried using Game Maker 7, and I want to see what else is out there.

If you think there's an even eaiser way to begin making games, by all means help me out.
