Free video/slideshow viewers for display

I am tasked with loading either a video or a slideshow onto a PC and having it display the video/slideshow on repeat.
MS Office will not be installed on the computers.
What are some of the best low or no cost software that will run the video/slides on repeat?
This will be displayed in a public area as an information campaign.
Any help is appreciated!

You could try Impress from OpenOffice and LibreOffice. Impress is comparable to Microsoft Office Power Point. There are options to import Power Point projects.

I use Picasa 3 and it will cycle the contents of any folder of your choice

Why don't you try Windows movie maker? It has basic features and probably can help you with this matter
