Gateway 450SX4 won't see Hard drive

Do the optical drives in the PC work? Have you tried moving the hard drives to another IDE channel (connector) just to see if it's detected?

I have a Gateway 450SX4 laptop that suddenly out of the blue no longer will see my hard drive. The BIOS states NONE on IDE Adapter 0, even after I changed 3 hard drives. The original may be questionable, but the other 3 are definitely good.

Any ideas?
Am I looking at a motherboard issue here? Or something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
