Nice article Steve! Gave me a stir I haven't felt in a while. Then I remembered I'm at the age where I'd rather just watch other people do it.

So, the unromantic question: is this fine wine, or did the 5070 age badly? Your testing had the 9070 XT 20% ahead of the 5070 at launch, but the gap is 24% now. I think the 12GB is failing in new titles.

I don't think AMD caught up. Nvidia still has the better architecture, more performance per transistor, per watt, and the stronger software stack. They just walked off to go sell to data centers and left the door open behind them.

Long term driver support is pretty meaningless. Most people swap their card in the 4-5 year mark.

Those cards go to someone else, assuming they're not broken. Being able to get a used card that's still supported for lighter workloads is the value of long term support.
