Good free AV?

I simply need a good free "easy" to configure/understand AntiVirus that works good with Windeows Defender.

As I'm on a laptop, I preserve power as much as possible. The consequence of that is, I don't use reactive products (favoring instead proactive) that scan files - - over and over and over again. If the proactive approach is truly effective, the programs don't get infected and thus don't need to be scanned.

So I favor Avast! Free as it proactively scans email and every weblink I click to see that infections do not enter the system.
I'm still on the hook for avoiding email phishing attempts, but that's a matter of knowing your correspondents and avoiding emotionally charged email subjects - - click delete and SMILE.

I've used this technique for years without any infections occurring.

I have used numbers of free antiviruses but there is no comparison of Windows Defender. It works simultaneously and detects every single threat not only detects it also kills the viruses and makes the computer virus free.
