Forward-looking: If you're a console owner who can't wait to play Grand Theft Auto 6 this fall, then here's some good news: Rockstar has once again confirmed that it's on track to release the game during the season. Unfortunately for us PC owners, a version for our platform still hasn't been announced, suggesting this will be another Rockstar game that takes months, and hopefully not years, to come to PC.

It's been over a year since the record-breaking GTA 6 trailer landed on YouTube. Since then, Rockstar has narrowed the release date down to fall 2025, but it still hasn't mentioned anything about a PC version – something that didn't change during Take-Two's financial report yesterday.

CEO Strauss Zelnick admitted that while GTA 6's fall launch date remained on track, delays can never be ruled out.

"We believe that arrogance is the enemy of continued success," Zelnick said in a post-report Q&A session. "We run scared. We're looking over our shoulder. Our competitors are not asleep. And so what do we do about that? We try to be the most creative, the most innovative, and the most efficient company in the entertainment industry. And Rockstar Games in particular seeks perfection in everything they do. And we believe that if we do that right, and we focus on delivering for consumers, that's our best opportunity to succeed."

GTA 6 is set to become the most hyped game of all time. Zelnick has ramped up the excitement in the past, repeating the "seeking perfection" line last year. He also said it would offer an experience never seen before. And at the Game Awards in November, Rockstar's David Manley said it would boast "mind-blowing things."

The lack of news regarding a PC version is disappointing, especially in these modern times when PC ownership is so high and most machines can vastly outperform consoles. A former developer at Rockstar said the reason PC ports come later is because the company wants to prioritize what it sells (I.e., console games). Complications in building a PC version for multiple hardware configurations and the testing it involves are big factors in why PC versions of Rockstar's titles arrive much later, too.

Rockstar's history with PC ports doesn't instill confidence in those hoping GTA 6 for PC will arrive soon after the fall. It took seven months for GTA 3 to arrive, eight months for San Andreas, eight months for GTA 4, and almost two years for GTA 5. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 took over a year, landing on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2018 before arriving on PC in November 2019.

Away from GTA 6, Take-Two is still set to release Mafia: The Old Country this summer, while Borderlands 4 will arrive before the end of 2025. No word yet on when BioShock creator Ken Levine's Judas will be released.

One thing gamers aren't looking forward to is the possibility of GTA 6 costing up to $100. An analyst recently said he "hopes" this will happen, as it could raise the average price of video games across the industry.

IMO, They're doing it right, especially if it is an actual finished game. I have other games to play, I can wait.

Lets see if this is a true "quadrupple A" title. If that's the case, I don't think I'll mind paying $100 for it. I was having a conversation with my mother the other day when I took her grocery shopping how it feels like the $100 is the new $20 and 20's feel like the new 5.

I don't mind spending money if the *VALUE* is there. However, we'll probably end up seeing lots of other people start charging $100 for games when they are actually barely worth $20. But, hey, that's what Steam sales are for.

Considering people burn hundreds on f2p games it makes sense rockstar would charge $100 for a game thats gonna be guaranteed to break sales records.

This is more tragic than anything: Here we're all on 2025 with both Sony and Microsoft releasing (basically) all of their first party titles on PC to take advantage of the fastest growing gaming platform right now (Yes, numbers don't lie: Even with their missteps Sony has made nothing but bank by releasing their first party titles on PC)

Meanwhile, Rockstar seems to be stuck on 2008 where PC as a platform was a second-class citizen they deemed not important enough to release on day 1. Maybe somebody should tell them?

Not me though: I don't think today's Rockstar is on the same level as 2013 Rockstar so I don't believe VI is going to be anywhere near as good as V was and the online part I expect a full on pay-to-win scenario just like Online is right now so I honestly don't care: It's not 2008 anymore we're not hurting for quality sandbox open world games, we've got maybe too many of those by now actually.

It's just smart business. Rockstar knows that people will buy it full price on the first platform they can run it on, and again when it hits PC. It's like nVidia GPU pricing, it will only stop when people stop buying it, but that would require gamers to actually develop this thing called patience and principles, not just FOMO at every opportunity

Tell them what about PC? That they'll make less money if they don't do a staggered release?

2013 vs current R*? Sooo RDR2 wasn't any good?

Online is a grind fest but that's why you look up a money glitch. *Buy everything for free* was one of the greatest glitches on V. I got like a 60 car garage full of deluxos still.

Damn, this benefits Sony's new consoles so much.
Xbox is a huge sucker here.
First, its consoles are horribly outdated.
Second, they are losing this chance of a century
to sell some hardware.
Sony is going to be very happy this fall.

MS has said time and again it's not worried about hardware sales. It's main focus has and will always be software and services.

Sure it will make and sell a console but it's not a bread n butter thing they make. It's just something they can make.
Sony need a console, MS does not.

It *was* smart business in 2013: Back then there was such a thing as double dipping because as I said, back then Sony and even Microsoft a little bit were still holding on to their exclusive first party titles: Both consoles had different architectures so porting to PC was basically extensive retooling if not full on redevelopment if using your own engines.

We're in 2025: It took a while but once Microsoft and even Sony now realized they really are just developing one version (Sans Nintendo so 2 at the most) you really can easily release on PC too: Even if it didn't use to be as profitable as the console there was very little cost for you and not having to run a separate marketing campaign for the release of the PC version I bet pays for the cost of running a PC port even if you have to wade through the bs wars of Nvidia vs AMD (Even though arguably, they already developed for AMD and Nvidia is usually eager to help port their nonsense proprietary stuff)

So tl;dr today people don't have to have both a PS5 and a PC and there's increasingly less reason to bother so this 'Have them buy the game twice for each platform' is no longer 'smart business' as Sony can make a lot more more money with launches like they had for Helldivers 2. Rockstar is not being smart, they're stuck in the past.

A console release first make sense if you don't want the bad press that comes with inevitable problems of PC launches due to the myriad hardware configurations.

If it's $100 in the USA, it'll be about $160 in Australia. Our shitty government has decimated our currency.
Sad state of affairs when a literal meme coin that I hold ($PEPE) is holding better value than a government currency. And they wonder why we no longer trust the authority in charge in safe keeping the nation.

Like video cards. The dollar price doubles in euros here in Europe.
