Hard Drive Clicking and not Recognized

  1. Hello, thank you for reading this! My problem started when I was downloading some music and running winamp at the same time. I wen to add some files to winamp, when the computer froze. I am running Win/2000, so i hit ctr-alt-del to see what was the problem. The computer did not respond immediately, so I stepped away for 30 minutes. When I returned, the system had core dumped. I restarted the system and when I did, the hard drive clicked once -*click *click - and then again - *click *click - Then the system said that there was no operating system found. I checked all connections and tried again, but no luck. I took out the HD and attached it as a slave in my other computer and the system would not boot with it in there. Could someone please steer me in the right direction. Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Sounds like the HDD has died unfortunately.
