Hard drive issues

Oct 16, 2009
  1. I have two western digital hard drives. Both are set as slave drives using cable select. I set one to slave and attempted to boot it up in two different computers. On BOTH computers, it causes them to hang after the memory count (detecting IDE drives). When connected, they won't allow me to get into the BIOS in order to get them detected. I have tried one of them as a master disk and the same thing happens. It certainly appears that the hard drives have gone bad, one for no apparent reason. (it was working fine when I last disconnected it) Any ideas as to what MAY be going on other than they have failed?? Is there something I'm overlooking??
