Hard Drive Not Found When Installing XP...

I have a Systemax laptop that basically has no operating system.

It goes blank when I start it so I tried installing XP. But i get an error message saying hard drive is not found.

I am not great with computers so any help would be great. All i know is that when i goto bios the primary master says none and the secondary master says cd/dvd.

it looks as if the HDD has died and moved on -
take it out and refit it to make sure the connections are OK - if no good the only optiona are to test it or bin it. You need an adapter to check it on a desktop so choices are straightforward - just buy a new one on line or take it to a repair shop.
