Actually - I've read that you can actually burn a few minutes of HD media to be played back in an HD DVD player using a standard burner and a standard 4.7 or 8.5 blank DVD. Keep in mind you won't get much length out of that much space since HD DVD disks are 15 GB per layer and are often 2 layers deep.
