A Quick Question About Avg Antivirus

Dear Howard and Tom,
Thanks for clearing that all up. I did as asked, and changed HJT to analyzethis1991 and AVG accepted the changes when I hit F3. I also checked the two HJT lines and FIXED them.
I needed to know what those six were and you definitely helped. Thanks again. AVG Antivirus never indicated the items as threats, just "changed".
Which confused me.

This is taken from your HJT log.

C:\DOCUME~1\THECUR~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\HijackThis.exe

As you can see, HJT hasn`t been renamed, nor is it running from the proper location. C:\program files\HJT\Analyze.exe

Please follow the instructions in the link I gave you.

The files you mentioned are all Windows system files, you can do a Google search to find out exactly what they are.

Regards Howard :)

No mate, it isn`t.

Taken from your HJT log. C:\programfiles\analyzethis1991\HijackThis.exe It`s the bold file you need to rename.

Taken from HERE.

Rename the HijackThis.exe file to Analyze.exe. This is because some malware can hide from HijackThis.exe. Right click the HijackThis.exe file and choose rename. Click in the title box and press the delete key to clear what`s there, type Analyze.exe and press the enter key. Right click the Analyze.exe file and send to desktop(create shortcut).

?hjt?

Dear Howard,
I download hijackthis from the hijackthis website. I have hijackthis.zip on my desktop. I right click and extract to c:\programfiles\hjt. I have hijackthis.exe now in the WinZip box. And when I right click the extracted hijackthis.exe file there is NO rename option. So, I'm totally lost as to what to do... Open, Add, Delete, Extract, View, Select All, Invert Selection, Virus Scan, Make .Exe file, UUencode, Test, Archive Comment, CheckOut, and File Properties seem to be the options available when I right click the extracted hijachthis.exe file.

You need to go into the actual location of HJT, in your case c:\programfiles\hjt and right click on the HijackThis.exe file itself, then rename it as per the instructions.

Sorry for the insistance on the renaming of HJT, but I needed to be sure there was nothing nasty lurking on your system.

Your HJT log is clean.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.

?hjt? No. You Hjt.

Dear Howard,
Yeaaaa!!! Thank you for all the help, and tell Tom the same. I'm not a computer smart person; you hung in there when my friends did not. Now time for a Guinness.
