Hotel bans bloggers following feud with YouTuber over free stay

All else ignored, I'll eventually travel to Ireland on vacation and will remember this as a place to avoid because the owner appears to be a douche and to be proud of that fact. That's not someone who should be is a hospitality profession.

yeah if you don't like how he reacted I would recommend going somewhere else in Europe, stay clear of , Scotland, Ireland, prob even France, they are known for not taking **** from anyone and it slides, especially if your not a local. Not complaining, they take there pride and culture over the money, which I respect.

I laughed pretty hard when she was touting her 80,000 subscribers, that's not a huge amount of exposure imo. Average view count is 20-30k per video with a few that got her into the 60's. A lot of other travel bloggers with much larger following he could invest in, same cost on his end, much larger exposure. In this case he prob loses nothing and gains tons of exposure, she will get the same, sub's shot up 10,000k and the "exposure" video got 1.7 million views so she can prob actually afford to travel somewhere nice for valentine's day. I saw someone saying they were surprised another hotel in Ireland didn't offer them a place, I wouldn't be surprised if no one else in Ireland offers, it's Ireland.

personally I love businesses run by owners that don't take any crap.
Not taking any crap from someone is one thing. But pissing on them for walking in the door and asking a question is completely different. The only person that should be ashamed of their self is the hotel management that took to social media. It is not as if they were being harassed by this blogger.

Ohh and for all of you talking about her looks (specifically her eyes). She explains in the video you never bothered to watch, she did cry from this ordeal. But then we already know you don't care making you as bad as the hotel management harassing her. I think I will add your name to the list of people that should be ashamed of yourself.

Wth is her makeup. Looks unnatural eewww.

Saw this news yesterday, my take is if you are given free items/hotels for review chances are 99% you will be positive in your review. It might be beneficial for both parties but please state it clearly that it was free and you asked for it so that ordinary customers won't be influenced right away with your publicity stunt. Receiving any items for free and you have communication with the seller/owner beforehand, I call this the modern bribery outside of politics.

Go and get a real job and STOP being a FREELOADER!
The pathetic part of this is over half the jobs can be classified as freeloading. And that is simply because the jobs are not there to begin with.

The problem once again is not her profession. It is not even the fact her offer was turned down. The problem here is the sick manner in which she was turned down. And if you think you will be treated any differently visiting this hotel, I do wish you luck with that. I'm willing to bet 95% of the people badgering this girl couldn't even afford the rates at this hotel. The attitude of management from this hotel, tells me this is an upper class hotel. And they simply didn't want some underclass member of society contaminating their proud name.

This chick is 22?

She looks like she been living in LA for 20 years already with all the required plastic surgery.

put down the botox and find real work "Social Influencer" lol

She is pretty but if you back about a year in her videos she was much prettier then IMHO

You know, I went back just to see, and yeah I think she looks better without the work done to her face (an assumption here) and that thick plastering of makeup... but I mean if it makes her happy, so be it?

It's funny reading the comments from people calling the manager a douche and declaring they won't stay at his hotel. Clearly he doesn't care and will continue to get plenty of visitors - at least they have a sense of humour (just read the front page of their website), even if some will consider it mean and nasty.
But honestly, if I received her request, there are 2 points that would provoke a reaction:
1. She wants a 4-night stay at a peak business period FOR FREE. With under 100K subscribers she's not exactly a world leader in travel blogging.
2. She says she did amazing work with Universal Orlando. So, from that simple statement, I'm to assume that they were in danger of closing and she miraculously saved them and they are now a thriving theme park and it would not be possible without her help. To be honest, dropping that reference in there gives her email all the credibility of a Nigerian bank manager with a special offer that only you can help him with.

Disclosure: I'm Irish. Sarcasm is the normal reaction to Stupid.

I do believe that is the way millions of people sell their selves on a daily basis. There is nothing different about this case, up until management decided to be a "douche" about it.

the video named something like I've decided to have my lips filled was the turning point and I'm assuming lips filled is equal to botox as I never watched any of her video was just skimming through her listed videos !

It is scary that this is considered a profession these days.........

Edit: This has to be one of the dumbest things I have seen in a while, she is pissed that she was told no and looks like it might have been the first time for her....... 17 min tantrum later...... Maybe I am getting old

She wasn't pissed that she was told "no"... she mailed a bunch of hotels the same thing. She was pissed that instead of simply emailing her back a polite "no thanks" (as I'm sure a bunch of other hotels did), this hotel owner decided to publicly blast her and her profession.

Yes, PROFESSION.... I know lots of people don't want to admit that blogging should be a profession... but alas, agree or not... it IS a profession.... just a new one... plenty of professions out there that are far older and less reputable (looking at prostitution, for instance, that no one would argue is a profession, even if they disagree with it).

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with what this young woman did. Yes, she attempted to get a "free" stay at a hotel in exchange for giving it free publicity.

Is this any different than a restaurant reviewer who gets a free meal when writing about it for his/her newspaper? Or the movie critic who sees a movie for free? Or the sportscaster / analyst who sees a game for free?

Again, all the hotel owner had to do was email back "no".... or, at worst... simply ignore the request completely.
He never even mentioned her name. She was the one whom brought it to people attention.

The more I think about this story the more dismal it becomes. The hotel manager speaks of 'entitlement' in reference to this struggling young woman, while he and his staff cater to people who travel around the world for pleasure and recreation feeling entitled, simply because they are wealthy, to having poor people wait on them hand and foot. That is the ugly reality of tourism. Included in this equation are all those who are resentful of people with artistic or self-employed jobs, which is why you see commenters flailing the girl to get a 'real' job. It's incredibly petty, and speaks, in itself, of a sadly deprived and limited worldview.

Not to deflect at all from the vileness of the hotel owner, it needs to be mentioned how eager young creators are these days to be shills. This comes from acceptance of a grim attitude that art is no longer treasured like it once was and therefore uncorrupted expression is impossible.

I'm absolutely going to visit this hotel and pay for my visit in currency instead of freeloader bribery...this lady is just soooo over the top with herself. Agree with others - go get a job instead of trying to become a media darling.

Some well brought up points by many here and thank you everyone for a reasonable debate without any name calling ( mostly unheard these days on the internet lol ) ! Have a good day everyone

I'm not sure you fully understand the concept of bribery.

My guess is this Owner got so many of these self entitled brats who stream to other losers and think the number of losers watching them makes money. My guess is 95% of her viewers wouldn't even have the money to go to this establishment. Annoyed he made a post about it never said her name. She should of simply went on with her life. She wasn't exposed but media *****s always have to get out there no matter what. Anyway I agree with the owner of the business.

As for her asking. I have worked in B2B sales its a hard thing and getting rude no's is part of it. I don't begrudge her for trying. But learn who you are targeting, make sure you know what your are doing and can truly offer a benefit to the business. In this case what she asked for and what she offered were completely disproportionate. This guy knew he was getting hustled and that is why he posted about it so others would leave him alone.
