anyone know how to change the administrators password for xp pro?

when I installed it (if i remember correctly) it asked me to setup the acct. (this is different than xp home) after setting the password for administrator, then it asks for the first user, name and password.

I know the administrators password, I just can't find the acct in users, only the 1 user acct with admin permissions.

The easiest way to do this would probably be to boot in safe mode.

I. Press F8 as your pc is booting

II. When the option comes up select "safe mode"

III. You should then be able to log into the admin account and

IV. Control panel>user accounts>admin>delete password.

*note* There are many ways to do this, but this will probably be one of the easiest.

I suggest, once you do get the password changed, do NOT use the admin account as your default. Use it to create another account, or change yours so that it has admin rights.

- this had occured to me, however I forget what to hit to enter safe mode.

thanks agian : )

Or:

Go to the control panel -> users -> disable the welcome screen (and disable fast user switching) and log out.

Log in from the win2k style log in dialogue box as:

administrator
password

Ctrl+alt+del and change the password.

Lol, or you could do that. Haha.

However, the before mentioned technique can come in quite handy at times.

You want to hit f8 before the xp splash screen comes up. You will then see several choices, choose Safe Mode.
