How to Easily Make iPhone Ringtones Using Only iTunes

I have tried several different ringtone apps for the iPhone. While they are mostly easy to use, I have yet to find one that gives me the same precision as using iTunes, so why not just make them from scratch? It is a straightforward process, and after you make a couple of tones, the method becomes a cake walk.

Also using whole song as a ringtone is very easy and it doesn't require clunky iT garbage at all.

Ringtones associated with groups or specific users is VERY helpful IMO.

While it is easy to create, for some reason my iPhone 5s will not play it - - oh well.

I can think of plenty of reasons:
-- don't see the point in paying for an app to do the same thing that they can do for free, & especially not having to pay twice (since they already bought the song);
-- don't want to worry about a sketchy app programmer getting access to their personal files;
-- want to have more choice options for the sound their phone makes when they receive a call than the (very) limited default options;
-- want to have a way to distinguish when particular people are calling them without having to look at the screen first (whether because they don't want to miss that person's call, or because they want to avoid a particular person at will without necessarily blocking them)
