How to Encrypt Files, Folders and Drives on Windows 10

For Windows 8.1 Pro, file and folder encryption works as describe here, but there is no Bitlocker...!

We all know the main reason for encryption - Dads of yesterday hiding their mags on the top of wardrobes etc. I don't even encrypt my text file called passwords- sometimes I even struggle to make sense of my instructions to recreate my passwords - and those who know me have no chance

You are wrong. I used bitlocker in windows 8.1 pro.
It's in control panel just like the way it is in windows 10.
It's home edition that doesn't have bitlocker

I stand corrected... Then the article title should have included Win 8.1 Pro and any other compatible OSs...!

Thanks for the nice guide. I'm a bit confused on encrypting the entire Drive/Partition. I assume this includes all newly created files/folders *after* this encryption process I.e. whatever goes into that partition gets encrypted automatically?

If this is the case, I imagine there's a constantly working background process? Or have I got it wrong?
