Hi, I was recently attempting to help a friend with a laptop he bought, a Dell Latitude D620. The main problem atm is a hdd password it came with that's impeding any use. The service # isa *******-595B one. I've been scouring the net attempting to find a way around it only to find frustration instead. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whats up gurus that are better than me

Hey everyone I have been rifling through this site over the past few days. I have to say there is a vast number of people with a vast amount of knowledge! However I have yet to find the location of the eefrom chip on my Wonderful? Dell latitude D510 I picked up @ a flea market. I have been through many threads and attempted several of the recommened programs only to get more bad passwords. Now I have my new laptop in pieces and I am having issues finding the chip that I can short on boot to reset this annoying bios password problem. If anyone can lend a hand as to the location of this chip on the D510 I would be ever so grateful.

I just heard a rumor that a 3 pass DOD wipe and then a slow format in a USB enclosure will clear a dell hard drive password... has abybody heard about and/or tried this yet?

Please help

:wave:I currently won on eBay some dell latitude D630 and i wanted to fix them so i can send them to some of my family in Puerto Rico that cant afford a computer i was upset to find out the the password the item description said they have was a boot up password, i have tried some things including removing the battery from the MB and nothing all i managed by that was a message saying the date and time are wrong then it goes to the white and gray screen asking for the admin password it says: This computer system, #JDGNCH1-595B, is protected by a password, if some one can please help me with this one and tell me how to do the rest i would greatly be thankful and so will my family in PR. again thanks and keep up the grate work the world needs people like you to keep it spinning:)

If you bought them from eBay
And they all have passwords on them (or even just one)
You are allowed to get a refund
You should at least contact the seller, or better, report them (to stop others buying laptops they cannot use)

Unless the ad said never switched on; or Not working or something.

Admin password for Dell lattitud D620 ppL18L

I am purchasing this laptop from a pawn shop. I was told if I can get past the password he would give me a deal. The windows password says enter the card into the card reader or type in password. I then tried to enter the bios and change the boot sequence, but there is a ADMIN. password. I was wondering how to bypass the windows password. If possible to do, will the laptop be usable or will I need to bypass the bios as well. I am looking for the quickest and easiest option, as I must have a solution by Tues or I won't get the deal. I read a post by MSCRX using dst-cd iso download. Will this work for me? Or could I just hit F12 on bootup for the on time boot sequence(just learned of this) and put in a new windows disk? Please help, I really need this laptop for school and there isn't much money for it. I need this deal.

Thankx in advance

hi all :)

i just read .. well not completely read the whole thread

and i found some interesting findings..

the inspiron 1520 doesn't have a 24cxx chip or any of the other chips that can be shorted

what it does have is a MX 25L605AM2C and a C46WP made by TI

so i was wondering if those can be shorted?

if not, then can somebody please help me on getting the password for it

i've already tried the cd version :)

B1L0KD1 that's the service tag #

or if you guys can let me know which pins to short, if anything that'll be awesome

here's the pin layout for the MX chip
____
CS# 1 -| |- 8 VCC
SO 2 -| |- 7 HOLD#
WP# 3 -| |- 6 SCLK
GND 4 -| |- 5 SI

lol, any help would be appreciated it :)
thanks!

Hello

I hope I am the right thread and I am not wasting anyone's time. If so, I'm sorry. I'm not computer savvy.

Here's the deal and maybe I can get some help.

So, I bought a USB connect card for the laptop and the desktop. This way I can just get rid of the cable interent net on the desktop.

Anyway, as I was installing the UBS connect card on the laptop, I decided I'll change the password for windows while I wait for it to instal. So I changed it..and had to restart after the installing was complete. So I typed in the new password after restarting and it keeps saying the password is incorrect. I know it's right becaus they make you type the password twice when you change it.

I tired the reset the password, but it says I need the removable F drive that I had stored the password on. Uh, I did't store it on any drive. I'd still have the USB connect card in the port when I changed the password.

So I called Dell. They can not help me out because the computer is registered under someone else's name! I bought it on ebay. It was still wraped and sealed when I got it. So, I'm pretty P.O right now.

I emailed the person I had bought it off ebay. The person has really good ratings, that why I went for it. Still haven't heard from the person yet.

i got this pm from this one guy linking me to a site that will get me the password for 50 dollars!..
that's a bit too much when i could have done it for free...

if there's anybody out there that can help me get the password for it, i would greatly appreciate it...

i already tried contacting Dell, and they don't want to help me because i can't show proof that is mine as it was bought from a friend, i can't contact this friend... and this dell guy who i talked to...actually told me that the laptop wasn't stolen..... BUT he couldn't help me out as they need to prove who the real owner is.... yeah.. that sucks...

there were a few posts were people actually got their wish come true...

"when you wish upon a star..."

haha, thanks guys!

what password are you talking about anyway? windows password as you mentioned in the post or dell system password? can you tell us, what the screen says when you switch on the laptop

I have an Inspiron 6000 and I set the BIOS password about a week ago. Unfortunately I don't remember the password ( and still kicking myself) due the amount of pain killers I was taking for a recent surgery. I am the original owner and I have talked to Dell and for a nominal fee of $49 they will give me a password that will allow me access. I just don't want to pay money for a word. If there is anyone that can help I would greatly appreciate it. I have assignments due for college and need access to my files.

Ok, I'm really clueless on the computer terms, so I will give you the best I can.

When I start up the laptop I have to have a password to get to the main screen. So, I'm guessing you guys call it "windows"

The screen is bluish..and it will ask me to log on. After typing in the password, it will say under the lil white box that it's in correct. It gives me the hint that I had chosen and the option to reset it. But I tried to reset it yet it says I need the F disk that I had saved it to. I didn't save it to anything. When I was changing the password, I was in the process of installing a USB connect card. After that was done installing, I had to restart it. And that is where the "fun" began.

Did I explain it to you well? If not, I'm sorry.

D620 help

I have a D620 that goes directly to the grey screen of death after power button is pressed. No oppurtunity to boot from any media, and requests password to continue. I did my homework and I am by no means a beginner to this kind of stuff. In the D620 the paperclip method wont work because its in keyboard controller. so basically my options are to spend the money and pay some schmuck off ebay, or give it a shot a ask for help. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out

BIOS master password for Dell latitude d531

Hi!

As many others, I've tried all the other ways to retrieve the master password for my laptop. I bought this laptop from a acquaintace, but since I'm studying abroad, I don*t have much contact with people back home. I know that this forum already is "overloaded" by these kind of requests, but I would be very grateful if somebody would be so kind to give me the master password for my laptop:)

Info:

Dell Latitude D531
Service Tag: 94P9Q3J

The boot order is also set to HDD and all the other options are disabled
