HP Pavillon won't power on

3 days ago, I shut down my HP Pavillion 7757 media center. When I went to turn it back on, it has *zero response*. (Although, there is a small green light in the back of the tower that is still faintly on). I was on the phone with tech support for 2 hrs. when they decided that I should send my tower in for repair. My fear is that they will wipe out my hard drive, losing all of my family pictures and music (I know, I should have backed it up before).

I have heard some on here mention replacing the "power supply." What does this mean? Is it just the power cord? Is this something that I can buy at my local computer store? PLEASE HELP!!

There are some details h e r e about the hardware internals.
But the concern is your warranty

Even though it may something as basic as the Power Supply, requiring to be replaced. It is best to keep in with the warranty (just in case it's Motherboard)

By the way, just try this really simple proceedure:

Pull out the back Power Cable
Hold the ON button in for 30 secs (dispersing all internal voltage)
Let go of the ON button
Securely (ie push hard) fit the power cord back in
Turn on

Sometimes it work :)

A psu is extremely easy to replace. By a QUALITY one of equal or slightly greater wattage than the one you have. Replace it. Ensure you are GROUNDED with the power unplugged.
you will need small tools like a phillips head screwdriver.
