Remove this from Scheduled Tasks:
c:\windows\Tasks\MP Scheduled Scan.job- c:\program files\Microsoft Security Client\Antimalware\MpCmdRun.exe
Opening scheduled tasks to modify or delete them:
Access Scheduled Tasks with Click on Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Scheduled Tasks.
To change the settings for a task: right-click the Task> click Properties> do any of the following:

1. To change the schedule for the task, click the Schedule tab.
2. To customize the settings for the task, such as the maximum run time, idle time requirements, and power management options, click the Settings tab.
3. To delete a task> right-click the task> click Delete.
4. To prevent a task from running until you want to let it run again> right-click the task> Properties> On the General tab> clear the Enabled check box. Select the check box again to enable the task when you are ready to let the task scheduler run it again.

Microsoft Security Essentials MpCmdRun.Exe Command-Line Help Is Incorrect

If you had used the above commands, the Microsoft Security Essentials always initiates the default scan type chosen in the Settings page of the Microsoft Security Essentials utility. That is, it defaults to Quick Scan (which is the default setting) regardless of the flag used. You can verify that using the Event Viewer. For every scan initiated, there is an event log entry generated.

To Disable Updating of Definitions When Running a Command-Line Scan Using MpCmdRun.Exe
The option Check for the latest virus & spyware definitions before running a scheduled scan exists in the Settings tab of Microsoft Security Essentials
To disable updating of signatures/definitions when running the console tool, uncheck the Check for the latest virus & spyware definitions before running a scheduled scan option in the Settings tab.

no crashes...
could it have been that keyhook.exe causing it..??

i have deleted MSE and gone back to Avast....!!!

seemed like a better option than all those entries you found...

You have an enormous number of processes running. It is time consuming for me to go through all of th entries. Removing all those old updates should help.

Removing all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created

• Uninstall ComboFix and all Backups of the files it deleted
• Click START> then RUN
• Now type Combofix /Uninstall in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
  
  

• Download OTCleanIt by OldTimer and save it to your Desktop.
• Double click OTCleanIt.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTC attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

Note: If any tool, file or folder (belonging to the program we have used) hasn't been deleted, please delete it manually.

• You should now set a new Restore Point and remove the old restore points to prevent infection from any previous Restore Points.
• Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools
• Click "System Restore".
• Choose "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next".
• Give the Restore Point a name> click "Create".
  
• Go back and follow the path to > System Tools.
  [*]Choose Disc Cleanup
  [*]Click "OK" to select the partition or drive you want.
  [*]Click the "More Options" Tab.
  [*]Click "Clean Up" in the System Restore section to remove all previous Restore Points except the newly created one.

Empty the Recycle Bin

Have done as you requested on your last post ,

All appears to be ok so far. Was chatting to a friend this morning in UK, he has experienced a similar issue with "freeze up" and it was traced to a similar issue with a so called "keyhook.exe" which is included with ATI Grafix Card drivers.....

Thought i'd share that in case you havent come acroos it before with ATI...!!

You're welcome. I think only the name 'keyhook' is alarming you. Unfortunately it 'sounds' like' something bad, but it isn't/

This is a legitimate process. It's up to you whether you want it to start on boot- it does not need to.
