Western gaming industry is like a bubble where the rules of economy and logic no longer work.
A horrible game is made, praised by "journalists" and various elite award givers.
Then everyone forgets it exists and only the investor write off it as a 10, 50, or 100 million loss.
Why should such industry even exist?

Same applies to cinema, book industries. Make sh8t to be praised by progressive critics. Lose a lot of money for the company owner. And then begin to work on another like the last one.

The only reason it still exists is because real talents have built these giant companies which now slowly bleed money till some Bezos or Musk will pick them up.

Cultural specificity is becoming a competitive advantage. Big publishers spend enormous sums making games designed to offend nobody, while smaller studios succeed by creating something that could only have come from their particular country or history.

Australians consider themselves to be a Western country, even if they are geographically in Asia.

In fact, their National Anthem was “God Save the King” until the 1980s, and many Australians identified as British until the 1960s.
