Installed windows xp over win7..now error loading OS

Hello all,
I did something that I now realize was not a good plan..
Running win7 home and created partition for 150GB,
booted from XP install CD and installed to new partition,
then, Error loading operating system

soon after, research I should have done beforehand yields
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/install-multiple-operating-system-multiboot#1TC=windows-7

"Warning ....do not install old OS over new OS...."

So....my questions is now what? I have no access to my win7 dvd, it is currently missing

I have tried to boot from the old XP CD again but no such luck, still get "error..." after I press the any key

I have tried a friends "easy recovery essentials" cd which allows me access to a shell OS and access to all the files on both of my hard drives...

I have a feeling I will need a win7 dvd to boot from....

I found a simmilar techspot topic, indicating I need to reset the boot location, but I cannot access a command prompt to execute the suggested commands...

You may find FIXBOOT and a basic install from USB thumbdrive which could be used to reset the MBR

Yes, I would agree, but the user asked for help and I attempted to provide a direct answer.
You've provided an alternative :)
