Intel Core Ultra 5 245K Review: Why So Slow for Gaming?

I doubt the FTC would allow AMD to buy Intel.
AMD can't afford to buy Intel.
Just like Qualcomm can't.

Also, Intel needs to be willing to sell in the first place.

A buyout is usually 2-3 times marketcap. Meaning they have to splash 200-300 billion USD for Intel. Not going to happen.

That is 8-12 times AMDs yearly revenue. Was 22.7 billion USD for 2023.

Intel had 54.2 billion USD worth of revenue in 2023...

To me, in a way, this FPS race is a bit ridiculous, like: You're "reaching an average of only 142 fps" where I'm averaging 201 fps! Just look how jaggy your screen looks!'

I know, I know, it's a relative thing to show performance, but from a Human standpoint still kind of ridiculous IMO.

It finally happened. A main player in the CPU market released a new generation product with overall slower performance than the previous generation, no improvements in efficiency, and just slightly lower MSRP.

Is there someone who still doesn't believe Moore's Law is over? We'll probably only see slightly incremental improvements during the next decades, probably more focused on efficiency than performance. Next 20 years in a best case scenario, 200 years at worst.

Yeah, the main problem is that line must go up ad infinitum. In that case, until coming up with an actual solid and tested design, it would probably have been wiser for Intel to just re-release 12th gen (or even better, ditch e-cores completely and re-release 11th gen). At MSRPs low enough to be competitive against current AMD offerings in price/performance ratio, of course.
I can kind of agree that Moore's Law might be over for this kind of silicon, reaching physical limits.
I believe new methodologies are needed, not throwing more of the same-ish cores at the competition. Yeah they're P & E, but built mostly the way Intel has been building them. Maybe even silicon is near an end.

Growing pains, we will see improvements as it matures. We at least need to credit Intel for innovation. They are behind AMD, there is no denying - but based on Intel's history, they deserve it. The whole "tick tock" thing was just rehashes of the same old, same old while AMD took a giant leap.

This kinda Reminds me of AMD's CMT that on paper was a great idea, practical it fell flat. Yes, it can be improved. I just pray companies don't start writing games according to Intel's Architecture as Everything Intel does, people have to follow. That is why Linux will always be better than Windows. As unlike Windows, Linux native support AMD.
