Intel next-gen desktop CPUs to feature 12-52 cores across Core Ultra 3, 5, 7, and 9 SKUs

Current Skymont E-cores are a strong as Raptor Cove P cores and can hit 4.6GHz. It's laughable to still think they are pleb grade cores that are much slower. Nova Lake's E cores will see another lift in performance compared to Skymont. For people that aren't game obsessed, everything from i5 to 19 will be a productivity monster. Bring it on.
Skymont is also very big too. So big it almost makes whole Hybrid thing pointless. Also power consumption will be an issue. Of course, like Raptor Lake, if power consumption and CPU durability are no issue, it's just fine.

All in all Skymont is so big that it barely make any sense. Scheduling problems will be bad and once again, AMD solution using c-cores remains much better.

Because they’ve forgotten how to innovate. Too many years of sitting on their rear ends while AMD wallowed in the shadows while drinking their own Kool-Aid.
That's not at all fair or accurate. Their foundry couldn't keep up with their chip designs. Manufacturing chips is much harder than designing them, which is also very difficult.

Under Pat Intel floundered, got stuck on alder lake, and canceled multiple nodes. There's no evidence that he was fixing any of Intel's systemic problems.

Don't forget Pat was in charge during the netburst and bribery fiascos. Anyone who thought he was gonna save Intel has a screw loose.
Pat had a four year plan. The board got impatient three years in. The board is full of the wrong people, IMO.

The Empire Strikes Back. So the Ultra 7 will have 42 cores and 120meg cache? That's ridiculous. The huge number of cores may be due to the lack of SMT.

I remember the AMD bulldozer years of desperation. It was difficult but I hung in there for AMD. AMD was able to rebound. What goes around comes around, and it may be Intel's turn.
