Internet connection has disappeared on 2 of 4 computers?

I was becoming increasingly convinced that the issue was with the router, but could not figure out how to bring it up in a browser. I called the ISP for instructions, who through his own admin panel quickly determined that on the occasion of the initial failure to connect, someone on another computer had signed in with the login and PW normally used on this computer and failed to sign out, then came back to this computer and tried to sign in. The admin/security settings in the router saw two people trying to sign on with the same login/pw and blocked the mac address of this computer. He reset it and all is well.

Maddening for such a simple explanation after so much time and tears, but glad to have it running again.

the good news here is a great default response from the router!

Now get control of it and if at all possible, have the log emailed to you, thus
getting NOTICE of such things.

there are some good lessons here on issues of login off, security settings,
and monitoring the log.

Great to see you're done with 'fire fighting' :)
