Keyboard not responding properly

My dads keyboard has started typing 4 characters at a time instead of the 1 he has actually pressed. He said it was working fine last night. I can't get into anything to have a look though as the accounts are password protected and obviously he cant get his password right as a result...?

Obvious suggestion, try another keyboard and see if it helps.

LOL yeah thats what I'm about to do but it means hiking back to my house to get one so I thought I'd ask here and see the replies when I get back...

Edit: On further investigation and opening up the keyboard I found what appears to be various sticky droplets of a coca cola like substance.... when questioned, a guilty looking little sister admitted everything LOL
