I agree with NeoMorpheus. When you limit yourself to just marketing fluff then you can't make informed decisions.
I may not like Nvidia and Intel, but I don't buy hardware based on my feelings. I buy what allows me to work better at the budget I set, and sometimes that means AMD and other times Intel or Nvidia.
I don't dismiss any of them. At most I might go with an AMD CPU over Intel if the price is very similar. The GPU is much more complicated.

What marketing fluff? The Nvidia GPU ecosystem is second to none.
I think it'd be great for AMD to become competitive again on GPUs, like they are with CPUs, but it's going to take research dollars and innovation, not just lowballing the market with me-too almost good enough copies of features.

This is very sad tho. AMD finally have decent GPU's and then they can't deliver. Steam HW Survey does not lie, Ampere is everywhere, yet there is barely any Radeon 6000 cards present.
I hope chip production at TSMC goes up soon. AMD suffers from the low output. Nvidia probably saw this coming and went Samsung instead. TSMC has been overbooked for sure in the last 12-18 months.
Maybe AMD has to fulfill a contract with Sony and Microsoft and have to prioritize console APUs over desktop CPUs and GPUs. Who knows. It's just strange that most higher end AMD stuff is mising in action and very hard to get; 5900X, 5950X, 6800XT and 6900XT all have insanely low marketshare.

Since you do like to move the goalpost, then let me move mine.
After all the illegal cr@p that intel and Nvidia has done to AMD, which ended costing them BILLIONS, then fine, raise the price enough to recoup within a reasonable level.
Talking about that, lets see how much intel asked for anything higher than 4 cores or how nvidia raised the hell up on the RT20 line, when they somehow knew that AMD was not going to have a competitive GPU...
"Nvidia ecosystem" - You are missing the point entirely. Different people have different needs.
I also believe that Nvidia has better software support, but I refuse to buy 8GB high-end cards in 2021. That's just a scam in my opinion (bait for future Nvidia product upgrades).
For example, if I were to buy a GPU now I would want to get the full 16GB of VRAM in the 6800 even if it is slightly slower in Blender than the 3070. The difference is huge when it comes to more complex scenes (read as large), I won't have to fiddle with them as much or at all. (coincidentally it's also faster in games)
The login requirement also annoys me to hell and back every time I need to open the Nvidia panel. It's like they are trying to piss me off.

Once again, Steam survey is not any indication abou market share. Even less it tells about availability. AMD's high end stuff have very good avalability currently.
Also AMD knows very well what will happen when crypto coins lose value enough. Nvidia knows too. Both could make at least somewhat more GPU's but limit production for that reason.

I recently installed AMD drivers suite on a system and the last screen was asking for consent in receiving anonymous data.
Little things like this do add up.

Ampere outsold RNDA2 like 14:1 so far. It was a smart move by Nvidia to go with Samsung instead of TSMC.
All Ampere cards are listed in huge numbers on Steam, pretty much no Radeon 6000 are present. Sad but true.

What are you talking about, you don't need to login to open Nvidia Control Panel haha, you can login in to Experience but it is optional, just like the application itself is optional..
simply don't install it.

AMD's TSMC wafer allocation is going to CPUs where possible. The good dies are saved for Epyc. GPUs are available in small quantities but not selling that well. On the whole though, AMD is supply constrained. Everyone saw it coming, including Nvidia, and pricing made Samsung appealing.
GPUs not selling well? Ehh.. If they were in stock and priced near MSRP they would sell like hotcakes right now and AMD would grab tons of marketshare

And? That reads: Intel Haswell CPU with Intel HD Graphics. Very clear as there also reads: Haswell Crystal Well. Haswell = CPU, Crystal Well = GPU.
Officially Intel Haswell GPU still does not exist.

Crystal Well is actually the EDRAM in Iris Pro configurations.
They are all lumped together by the common driver identifier.
Just like "AMD Radeon R7" is in the list as an amalgamation of a bunch of GPUs.
Stop the noise.
Crystall Well is supposed to be only L4 cache but since all Crystall Well equipped CPU's also have Iris Pro graphics, it's OK.
Never heard about Radeon CPU. Likewise never heard about Zen GPU or Ryzen GPU.
Once again, Haswell is CPU. Haswell is NOT GPU!

You're making a distinction that is irrelevant.
There are drivers around that identify Intel HD Graphics as "Intel Haswell HD Graphics". Likewise for Broadwell, Ivy Bridge and Sandy Bridge. Which is why they show up in the Steam survey.
The survey that you're trying to disparage because you don't like the outcome.

Claiming that CPU is GPU is more than enough to prove that survey I not to be taken seriously. It just proves Steam detects GPU's incorrectly. Just like above, 9 year old Radeon HD 8800 series seems to sell like hotcakes...
No matter what driver reports, you just cannot accept CPU as GPU or other way around.

Hey look under Linux lspci also lists it as Intel Haswell Integrated Graphics. Looks like Linux needs a HardReset.
Ignore driver strings that are clearly incorrect or make better detection software.
Intel Haswell integrated graphics mean Haswell CPU that has GPU. It still does not mean Haswell GPU, it still does not exist.
