Logging And Tracing In W2k/ XP ?

  1. Hello,
    Is there an option to log opened file name (files location string) in the computer+ network activity.

    network user opens a shared folder in d:\mydocs
    then he opens d:\mydocs\mytextfile.txt
    and i'll be able to see it later.
    right now i can only see opened sessions and files.

    erm, i tried playing with it a little but seems like only performance counters ?

    Administrative Tools->Local Security Policy->Local Policies->Audit Policy->Audot object access That one maybe..

    It would be rather silly to log every single file access anyway - you'd get lots of data..

    yes you have to study it the panels you make yourself and will log anything on the machine what you are doing is creating your own MMC log
    I have made a few for diff functions one for the hard drives and one for internet activities
    ther are 3rd part apps that do it with easyer GUI functions
