Loss of connectivity to internet as laptop is turned on from standby mode

I have lenovo t61 laptop. whenever I put the machine in standby mode and reactivate it connectivity iwith internet is lost. Although icon showing the live connection in the tray remains. Most of the the time I have the repair the connection from the "wireless connection status window". Is any solution available for this problem.

Here is a bump for anyone understanding the machine states associated with standby, and how to awake the beast avoiding glitches. I feel that somewhere in the device manager for the wireless network is a power saving or sleep setting you can override.
