Major problems with BSOD

I see an awful lot of errors in that screen read-out. Try this: Disable TrendMicro and reboot. What occurs?

I am not sure how I can disable Trend Micro since I can't get into it the normal way. When I'm in safe mode and I open the program, it just automatically starts that scan I sent the printscreen of. How can I disable it in safe mode without uninstalling it?

No luck. I didn't re-install it yet, but I did uninstall Trend Micro and the same exact thing happens upon a normal restart.

Here are 2 more minidumps.

I was wondering if you thought my addition of the external Seagate Hard Drive and the software associated with backing up my C: drive would be related in any way to my problems.

Just to try it out, I attempted to remove the Seagate Manager Installer software, and I keep getting error messages when I try to delete it using Add/Remove programs...it won't let me delete it. Could this in any way be connected?

Yes, we have seen a lot of issues with with external harddrives and the problems you have experienced. Download the latest version of CCleaner and utilize its Tool section. Many of us find its uninstaller works better than Windows Add/Remove.

I tried the Uninstall option in the Tools of the latest CC Cleaner and I get the same error. An InstallShield window pops up and says "1628: Failed to complete installation." which is strange because I'm trying to UNinstall. The point is, I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the software so far. Any other ideas?

The installation aspect is actually the attempt to load and initialize the uninstaller in order to uninstall the software. Get it? :D

Before we mess with the registry I would check out Seagate's website. They have a forum and see if you can find any solutions. Perhaps their tech support can help via email.

Yeah...I get it :) So, I contacted Seagate's chat help and they said because it's a USB hard drive I couldn't change certain things in safe mode. He suggested I download windows installer 4.5, but I don't think that installed correctly in safe mode and now when I try to uninstall the Seagate software, I get another error saying "Error 1719: Windows installer service could not be accessed...etc."

Here's what the genius at Seagate had to say about me not being able to get the installer to work now:

Taylor H: If it can not be accessed there wouldnt be anything we could do. I would suggest to contact Microsoft to see if there is anything else you can try.

I feel like a wild goose chase is beginning :(

I find the people who are active on forums are your best bet. You may want to join Seagate's forums and post appropriately.

My other suggestion is to post your issue at our Storage and Networking forum and give a brief description of your issues with the Seagate external harddrive including the difficulties you are experiencing with the siftware, etc.

Hello again. I've been busy lately, but I am still battling with my problem here. I have asked for help in the storage & networking forum, but nothing from there has worked yet either. I still haven't been able to try uninstalling the Seagate software because I can't use the uninstaller at all right now.

Do you have any further suggestions that I can try?

thanks for the help

Hey...I just finally gave up and decided to start from scratch. I wiped the hard drive clean and restored back to factory settings, so I will begin to restore my files from the external drive and reinstall everything like it's a new computer. Thanks for your help though!

And thanks for getting back to us. I am sorry that I didn't see your response from 4 weeks ago.

Keep us up-to-date and let us know if your system has regained full stability since starting from scratch.
