  1. Hello all,
Whenever I try to start a video game program my computer crashes and restarts. I turned off auto restart and the error is in the file swmidi.sys
Is there any way to remedy this problem or am I stuck with it?

It's not missing, it just has an error every time I start this program. Is it safe to replace it?

    No problems other times?
Is this problem present with all video games, or have you tried only one?
Most likely memory, video graphics unit, or sound card. Can you borrow others to run comparison tests?
First thing to do would be to check for updates to your audio and video graphics drivers, then Windows Updates in custom mode, then run MemTest86 or other memory testing software.

It's only on this type of game. I recently updated my audio drivers for a different game, however the problem in question persisted even though I updated.
