Man arrested for allegedly wiping his Google Pixel before a CBP search

Did you try reading the article before malding about Trump?
“Under federal obstruction statutes, digital data is treated no differently from physical records. Laws such as 18 U.S.C. §1519 and §2232 make it a felony to destroy or alter information to prevent federal authorities from obtaining it.
Prosecutors increasingly apply these laws to smartphones, arguing that wiping a device after officials signal an intent to search or seize it is equivalent to destroying evidence, regardless of whether the underlying investigation is serious or whether the device contains anything incriminating.“
I read the law and it still doesn't change the reality of what I said.

When "malding about trump" is deemed enough to get you put into prison or exported and people are so afraid that they delete their social media history... the US has turned into a fascist country.

You just proved my point. You assumed I voted, which I didn’t. I’m an independent who thinks for myself and actually has critical-thinking abilities — unlike your brainwashed self.
You cannot accuse others of brainwashing while defending trump and his policies. I cannot imagine any "independent" who isn't actively trying to get trump arrested for pedophilia and to stop the fascist policies enacted by him.

An "activist" ?
Seriously?
The Tactical Terrorism Response Team does not deal with angry incels with slogans demanding 'climate action' or some such nonsense.

I recall the members of the BLM-Antifa terrorist group were also labeled 'activists' by the radical media. This guy was likely an 'activist' of the same kind.

The charges will only stick if they can PROVE that the man wiped his phone with the intent of destroying evidence.
Law enforcement loves to slap people with "Obstruction of Justice" as a bogus charge as well. That charge can only stick if they can prove that someone knowingly and physically does something they shouldn't have.
If they told the man they would be coming with a warrant for the phone data, then he destroyed (factory reset) the data. Then yes all the charges can stick.
Should be very easy for forensic experts. They will check his logins to his social accounts and where he accessed them from. Basically, they will have a very accurate time when he last used his phone.
The only exception is if he does not visit any websites from his phone. Then he can claim that he wiped it earlier.
An interesting case, which he can win or lose.

The fact that everybody is arguing back and forth about whether or not the US is becoming a fascist state is all the evidence you need to see how low America has sunk over the last few years. Your president is a convicted felon - that's fine. He pays gagging money to prostitutes to shut them up - that's fine. He's dismantling your welfare system one institution at a time - fine. He's cosying up to Vladimir Putin, Mohammed Bin Salman and Israel and distancing the US from decent democracies around the world - No problem. He's weakening NATO and wiping out years of work trying to get sensible environmental regulation - Sure thing. When journalists try to challenge him he just says 'fake news' every time now then threatens the network they work for or just shouts 'Shut up Piggy' at them - fine. He's deeply involved with Epstein - that weird letter he wrote to his 'special friend' alone would be enough in any other country for a leader to be dismissed but for some bizarre reason that's also fine apparently. There doesn't seem to be any depravity or moral low-bar he can't slither under and still be in charge, it really is extraordinary to watch.

It's true that Trump's government is not fascist. Fascism is based on ETHNIC identity. They put their own ethnic group at the top. Trump doesn't do that. However, its worth pointing out that Fascist governments allowed opposition. What they didn't tolerate was Communist propaganda. That's because by the 1930's, Communism revolutionaries had caused enormous damage to many nations. Russia and China are good examples. Or read about the 1919 Hungarian Socialist Republic under Bela Kuhn. Brutal.
And yet fascism is a branch of socialism.

I'm not American, but I laugh at Americans who think this is "fascism". LOL

If you guys living under real fascism, you would not be able to criticize Trump policies openly without police coming to your doors. Opposition media (like CNN) would not exist at all under fascism.
You haven't been paying attention. CNN is part of Warner Brothers, which David Ellison, an ally of tRump, is trying to buy with government influence. And ICE is indeed arresting people protesting tRump. This is very clearly the beginning of a fascist state, if it's allowed to continue. That is our point.

You mean arresting people who are rioting, blocking ICE cars, destroying cars and assaulting ICE agents.

According to the indictment, the phone was supposed to be searched by a supervisory officer from a CBP Tactical Terrorism Response Team.
Since this should technically fall under the umbrella of "National Security", I question why we even know there was a grand jury. To maintain the pretense of an "open and transparently fair and just legal system", I suppose? Because otherwise, I feel like this is something we the public aren't supposed to be privy to...

Either this guy screwed up real bad, or the government is hiding something and he's just the patsy. Place your bets now, as to which one is true.

No, arresting people who are critical of trump. And they aren't even trying to hide it. It's all in your face, front and center.

Proof ? Show me that people getting arrested for JUST criticizing Trump ?!

You just proved my point. You assumed I voted, which I didn’t. I’m an independent who thinks for myself and actually has critical-thinking abilities — unlike your brainwashed self.
Well, not voting is the same as putting Trump (or any other winner) into office. If you want change, you have to be a participant.

Here you go:

Not to mention the many MANY people held for long periods of time at the border for social media posts (some for a week or two for crying out loud).

~Border officials “bragged actively that the reason for my targeting, for my being pulled out of line for my detainment, was explicitly because of what I’d written online about the protests at Columbia University” ~ Alistair Kitchen, the Australian writer who was denied entry to the US in June.

Here you go:

He was arrested because his meme was mistakenly interpreted as "threat of mass violence against a school"

He was not arrest for criticizing Trump or Charlie kirk

And yes police can make mistakes sometimes... just like every single country in the world. But he was not arrested for criticizing Trump or anyone. His charge was "threat of mass violence against a school" (even if the police was mistaken))

No he was not arrested for criticizing Trump. Title is misleading, read the article itself.

He was arrested for demonstrating in an prohibited area

Quote from the article "They were arrested for demonstrating inside the Congressional Buildings, which is not allowed in any form, to include but not limited to sitting, kneeling, group praying, singing, chanting, etc. In this case they started praying quietly and then began to pray out loud. That is when we gave them multiple warnings to stop or they would be arrested. The[y] didn’t stop,” said a US Capitol Police spokesperson"

And yet the pro-trump ppl aren't getting this kind of treatment. Mistaken for "Mass violence" my ars. You have literal violence threats being ignored for "freedom of speech" (just open twitter) and they arrest somebody for a meme... it's time to wake up and smell the flowers.

The people who attacked the capitol were released for being good little trump cultists and people like this guy get no mercy. Criticize trump? You will lose your job and you can be arrested. Want to cross the border with a meme on your phone? Either you are denied entry or you disappear for weeks.

You have the people who are doing the arrests bragging about doing these things... and yet here you are looking for excuses.

You sum it up pretty nicely. I would suggest that if anyone is reckless enough to want to visit the USA now they should simply not carry a mobile phone. I'm sure with a little determination a person could survive for a while without one.
