Maxtor 200g problem?

I have just added a 200g Maxtor disc to my system. This is in addition to my original Seagate 80g hard drive (this still has my original XP on it) As they are both SATA drives I simply changed the boot order so that my new drive with the clean install of XP kicks off first (at least until I am sure everything is on). I have noticed however that the Maxtor disc has a tendancy to lock and the BIOS then changes the boot order so that the Seagate kicks in and my old XP loads up. Has anyone else had problems with these drives? or could it be that they are literally sitting on top of one another, very close. Is there a recognised space that has to exist so they don't heat up or anything.

Or have I just got a duff disc?

Don't use cable select, especially with 2 diff. brands of hd's. Also, don't switch hd's in BIOS. XP can be screwed. I'd say, set 200g as primary and 80g as sec. Install XP on 200g.

I have the 16mb cache ATA one. Ja, it's been wunderbar. I mean wonderful.
