Mega AMD B850 Motherboard Roundup: 47 Boards Tested

MSI has consistently been hitting it out of the park for AM5 boards. Mainly in offering lots and lots of USB ports, including lots of 3.2 gen 2, while everyone else has been cutting back.

Asrock has some great deals but I couldnt trust them.

I want to know, why did every brand start cheaping out on audio? All these boards have just audio out, in, and sometimes SPDIF. Used to be every board could do at least 5.1 surround.

It is ridiculous how much some AM5 boards cost. There are some boards that is more expensive than CPUs. I like nice looking boards I do not like them more than my CPU 😒

MSI has always been my go to product. I have been using them from the old pentium 478p Pentium 4 era. I bought an XFX 6600XT but only because I got it for a killer deal. My mobo is still AMD (AM4) which is slated for an upgrade as it is a really low budget board and I will most def get a better MSI board when I upgrade to an 8c CPU.

Thank, but I hoped to see memory capacity and frequency ability like in one of the previous reviews because that's the weakness of AMD

Mobo makers make PC upgrade decisions very easy for me - I take a glance at the MSRPs and immediately conclude that my current rig is still fine.

Probably because the consumer audio world has been largely taken over by sound-bars, (USB) gaming headsets, and USB DACs with much greater fidelity than could ever be reasonably (let alone cheaply) implemented on any motherboard. Honestly I can’t even remember the last time anybody talked about (getting) or reviewed a real (and cumbersome) 5.1/7.1 surround sound system.

AM5 is a really expensive platform. I'm sticking with my B650M Aorus Pro AX and won't 'upgrade' because there's nothing to upgrade to. According to Steve it's the best B650M board so there's no reason to replace it.

Really, thanks Steve!!

Why not ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus WIFI it's atm the cheapest B850 atx in Denmark 155 euros

54c and almost top 5 in the score chart
