megabytes is bigger than megabits. Mega, in general, means one-million - 1,000,000. Generally, a byte, in computer speak, is made up of 8-bits. Thus, in bits, a megabyte is 8,000,000 bits, and a megabit is simply 1,000,000 bits.

As to your last question, since a byte is bigger than a bit, which do you think is the larger number?

It's easy figure out 1 Megabit is = to 0.125 MegaBytes
or if you like it this way 1 MegaByte = 7.629395 Megabits
also the nomenclature for Megabit and MegaByte are not the same
Megabit = Mb
MegaByte = MB
