Meta have previously been made to pay $650 million and the later $1.4 billion to settle lawsuits related to facial recognition and mass surveillance, but they are at again as Wired have uncovered. This time it is about their "Smart glasses" and using facial data they have from apps.

I am sure something like this and worse will keep happening, not only with that Meta does but by other actors be it private or government based. I think the only way to try and stop this, is for the use of camera internet glasses to be outlawed outright. It is that or there is bound to always be someone, either naive or creepy enough to be wearing them and we all become victims of surveillance
Now some will say, but there is already cameras in phones and cars and in shops... only those cameras are either visible or at the very only in specific locations/settings (cars usually stay on roads and parking lots). So while not unproblematic, what we get with "Smart glasses" is on a whole different level - even now and then imagine what it will be when tech evolves just a little ie. smaller, better resolution, directional microphones, AI...
