Metro Exodus is returning to Steam after lengthy Epic Games Store exclusivity

This is amusing. I find the people on here saying they will boycott epic hilarious. Good luck, the vast majority of the games industry doesn’t care if you won’t buy a game on epic. Most of the rest of us are happy to do so. So go on, continue to tantrum and throw toys out of the pram, you’re only making a fool of yourself.

I guess no one told these guys that it’s possible to have more than one game launcher installed on your PC!

Metro exodus was great. I do regret buying it on epic though. Only because it’s on Xbox game pass for £3.99 a month. Could have saved myself a bit of money as that fake was done in a month for me. Oh well at least I didn’t boycott steam and miss out on it lmao!

Cash incentives will never go away, and what happened to competition? I'm also one of the few it seems that is okay with letting things play out. DLSS and RT as other great examples. Tech is an evolving industry and greed is common. I use launchers to launch games, because that's where I bought them. If my games don't launch, then I have a problem.

Everyone just wants a reason to grab a pitchfork and think they are entitled to perfect feature rich products on day one.

Not gonna happen.
I prefer to be entitled than to be slapped in the face multiple times and laugh about it as if it's normal.

Many things have changes for the better because of these "entitled" gamers and you are just freeloading off of them.

10% of ppl not buying it is enough, but in this case we are talking about a lot more than just 10% and they also lost a lot of fans of any future titles they might make. The Epic deal only covers sales for one game, not every game they made/will make.

Goodwill goes a long way for niche IPs. not every developer is working on COD, FIFA, or other IPs that just sell regardless of what tomfoolery they do.

FYI, the simple fact that many gamers are against Epic's exclusivity deals scared devs from signing a contract with Epic. This is good for you and every costumer, but hey, you just don't want to admit it or fail to see it.

Congrats, because of "entitled" gamers you can buy many more games at any platform you want at the best deal you can find. You are not limited to just one platform and 1 price.

The devs get more money from Epic sales. Why wouldn't that be your incentive to buy it on Epic? There is a very positive outcome by caving in to this deal. The protesting is selfish if anything. Supporting devs comes after proving a point in 2020? Weak.

Oh for crying out loud. The fact that you think this and people are liking it really is really proof that it's already over. The devs aren't event the one making these choices. It's scum sucking company's like Epic and greedy publishers (a la Deep Silver, 2K, etc) that are both making the choices and getting the cash in these deals. I have nothing against the Epic launcher (let's face it, Ubisoft still has that title), but I have everything against companies / publishers that participate in anti consumer practices like this.

I don't care when this game comes to steam or any other platform, they won't be getting my money for what they did. They can pretend all they want but a second release a year later for nearly full price is just another way to spit in face of the fanbase and fill their pockets. If anything it's brilliant scheme and a bit surprising it's taken this long for someone to try. And don't worry, with enough mindless consumers running around that think like you, the "devs" will be just fine.

Oh goody, now Deep Silver gets to charge all the people it screwed the first time.

Couldn't be happier to not open my wallet. What a joke.

If that is what you understood then that's your problem. I won't buy it on principle.

If they accept anti-consumer practices then that means that they also accept the fact that some people will not buy it. Just because they finally released it on Steam doesn't mean that I agree with their past deal with Epic and what it means for the gaming market and consumers as a whole.

I have no idea why you are so quick to forget the BS they did (and the BS Epic is still doing).
I didnt forget what happened, YOU didnt say that. You talked about hype, I was addressing that.

What are you two talking about? Developers get paid a wage like all of us, the them it doesn't matter if the game sales because they're already got paid, its the publisher who benefits more from better deals with Epic or higher sales in general

Good to know
But tell that to the guy in this discussion above who thinks they're paid better on Epic, than on steam!

The way the devs and publishers split their money is not my concern. Paying $70 for a game period is too much for me, regardless of age.

My main complaint is with platform exclusives. If they don't want to sell to me on my platform and vendor of choice, then I don't have to have their game.

I find it amusing that people genuinely believe that their boycott of Epic is working. Epic games store is a huge success for Epic themselves, developers and the gaming public. I guess some people have a heightened opinion of their relevance.

Personally I’m hoping Epics success can make steam finally make improvements to their now garbage launcher. They have been sitting on their laurels for years. Who knows maybe they won’t be so selfish and give up less than 1/3 of the games value just for the privilege of being on steam? It’s not like they aren’t worth billions already.

Does anyone here even remember when steam first launched in 2004? It was universally hated as a drm tool for Half Life 2. I get the impression the die hard steam fanboys haven’t been around that long and can probably only remember the golden era of steam when they actually had decent sales. Those days are long ago now, steam seem to want to compete with gog rather than anything else. It’s basically just an archive for me.

It's a bit funny to see people pushing Steam monopoly yet they are usually against other monopoly companies :D
Except for the fact that Steam is over a decade old, and has more than proven itself. The epic games store is a malware-filled piece of junk that popped up overnight....
