Microsoft explains how Windows 11 will become an agentic OS whether you like it or not

In one recent article, one professor who was teaching research methods to engineering majors in one top uni reported that most students don't know how their data is stored in their devices, I.e., they don't understand the concept of files and folders.

That implies that most computer and device users, including even those majoring in engineering and in the sciences, are novices, such that they don't know even know things like what icons in the system tray are, how to use shortcuts to copy and paste text, and so on. And as they grow older and become too busy with many other things, like writing business reports, they also tend to forget various functions and features.

In which case, such automated features involving AI are inevitable, and will also be costly as they require more electricity and other resources.

Windows 10 has a bright future it seems as does Linux and MacOS.
Agreed. Unless they decide / manage to somehow back-port all that garbage into Windows 10. If my WIn11 IOT starts to misbehave, it will be Linux for me. Already done some experimenting. All that holds me back is having to re-educate my 12yr old kid about Linux usage -not being an expert myself.

This is what happens when you don't have real competition in the home/office desktop space. The competitive feedback loop does not exist. Management gives you what they think is cool/better not what the customer actually wants. It is not like they have a real option to switch to. Oh Apple, yeah that is a whole other closed-hardware, software nightmare. Linux, nice, but not for you average person. I guess MS spent so much money on OpenAI and LLMs they have to force it in to Windows so it does not look like a waste. The enshitification continues.
I can't thank you enough, how spot on your comment is./

Well...at home I am already 50% Linux. I guess I will be 100% soon.

I'm hoping Gaben makes a viable Linux based gaming desktop. If and when they do it'll be the last time I use Windows. I know, proton has made playing windows based games so much easier. But it's still not perfect. When it is, M$ is going to see some major push back on the gaming front. Sad thing is it won't matter. Their real customers are enterprise ones and they're lock in no matter what they do.

When they say security as top priority, they mean control and selling features you cannot get elsewhere.
Is this not what they did with office 365? It was not enough for them to sell it to businesses and hardware. They wanted to be paid once a month.
We do not want to be controlled. And I know exactly what top security is worth is today's world, not much.
Spot on. I'd say it's absolutely MS policy.
