Monitor Keeps Going To Sleep

Typical girl.. knowing not much about her computer! haha. Everytime I turn my computer on within 30seconds it says something like 'USB connection not found, Monitor is going to sleep" **of some other kind of connection**
I unplugged everything- and replugged to make sure nothing was loose.. but still. NADDA!
any guys/gals willing to help!

We need to know your comptuer brand, model, and age, as well as your monitor brand, model and age.
More about operating system would help, as well as the overall configuration and other software..
