Motherboard capabilities

Good Afternoon all,

Hopefully there is someone out there who can help me in my quest to update my machine.

I have a Packard Bell IXetreme X6618

I currently have an intel quad core processor & 4GB RAM

the motherboard part-code is PT.U130X.007

What i am looking to do is either upgrade my processor so it's more of a game-spec and upgrade my graphics card as well so it's more of a game spec.

I currently have an NVidia Gforce GT120 graphics card with 1GB memory

Would i be better of over-clocking my current processor?

Would i be better simply upgrading the processor?

i'm not sure what the best course of action is!?

Any help would be hugely appreciated

Thanks all

Rich

If the BIOS supported overclocking that would be a good place to start. Normally, pre-built systems don't have this as an option. Given the processor that's already installed, any of the Core2Duo or Core2Quad processors should work fine.

The video card certainly needs to be replaced but I'm not sure of the specs of the power supply for your PC.

Afternoon JMMD - thank you very much for your responce!

There are two BIOS upgrades on the Packard Bell support site for my machine which were posted 10 and 11 months after buying my machine.

Do you reckon it's worth downloading and installing them?

i think i might have a look at some of the overclocking threads on here to see about how to go about overclokcing my machine.
