Mouse and Keyboard acting strange

I'm saying that from a quick look at problems reported running the Battle.net software and 64 bit Windows was the one where most problems were being reported. As far as old games and software in general are concerned 32 bit is a safer option but I agree with you that it isn't likely to make any difference. The best bet is to run the games in a virtual OS. It has worked for me with programs that won't run on Windows systems more recent than XP.

I reckon that the problem is one of getting old games to run under recent Windows OSs and the keyboard/mouse issue has masked this. There are dedicated gamers who run forums discussing problems with running classic games. For example, look at this link which doesn't mean much to me :)

I can't contribute anything further on this matter but best of luck with finding a solution.

Back with some new observed information.

I tried unplugging one of the harddrives (leaving just the other one plugged).
I had to get windows on it back from scratch, so I got in the USB and started the installation.
However, even in the windows installation menu the mouse problems already occured (clicking the window would un-focus it, meaning I couldn't use the mouse for the installation).
So I tried turning the computer off, switching mouses (mice?) and starting the installation again.
This time it worked, so I installed windows and tried if the other problems would be there.
And they are not.
So now I'm once again sure that it's the mouse, but I would like to understand what the problem with it is, since the problem happened before even after switching it (for the one that now works).

I'm using 32 bit windows.

Another update:
Since I want to use the old mouse (if it is at all possible), I tried plugging it in.
It made the problem come back, so there is definitely a problem with the mouse, but I think it's 'just' with the drivers it loads to the computer or something like that, since uninstalling the mouse drivers and plugging back the working one didn't stop the problem.

Any ideas what I need to fix/change to get it to work? I'm guessing if it isn't doable in device manager I might have to go to the registries and I really don't want to mess things up (though what's the worst that could happen, I've already reinstalled windows a few times at this point)

Maybe it's just one of those things. You tried it on another computer and said it worked OK. If you can play the games with your other mouse that sounds good enough to me. Quit while you're ahead.

Well I had the other mouse just borrowed, but I guess I will just get a new mouse and use this one with a laptop (it's running ubuntu and had no problems)

Case closed I guess.
Thank you for your help an patience and good bye!

Just letting you know that a lot of people have been reporting the same problem. The issue being a recent Windows 7/8/8.1 update which has royally messed up a number of USB and PS/2 Mouse and keyboards once the update installed.

Hello, I'm sorry if it is an inappropriate so admin can move my question to the right thread. Last night, my mouse was perfectly normal. This morning this got weird.

I noticed while I was a playing a game of Counter-Strike. It is impossible for me to flick the mouse, both in game and just within Windows. The mouse seems to 'max out' in speed and won't go any faster. The best way I can explain it is like this:

I have no mouse acceleration or smoothing, so typically when I move the mouse 1 inch, lets say it moves on the screen 2 inches. It doesn't matter how fast or slowly I do it, it is the same. However, now if I move the mouse slowly 1 inch, it will move 2 inches, and if I do it quickly it goes half the distance. Any ideas? I haven't touched any mouse settings (until I noticed this, but everything seems to be normal).

Hi, First step would be to try a different mouse, to prove if the fault is in the electronics of the mouse.
I am guessing it's not a wireless mouse, as you said about using it in a game.
Second would be uninstall the mouse driver in Driver manager, and install it again, by rebooting your PC.
