MS updates, a "weird" question

Most likely we have all installed them over time, yet I'd like to know is how do they know where to go on the harddrive? Your answer will be just as confusing to me, but I'd still like to know. ?

You'll hate this - - they go where the belong (told you).

MANY get spewed somewhere in \Windows\* or into new or changed registry settings.

Rarely do they show in \Programs

You can usually at least see the package names in Programs & Features, see installed updates
