MS W10 Updates help

I know they're automatic but there has to be a way they'll notify the user before shutting down to install them. I was getting ready to send a loooong email when I stopped for a minute or so,came back to see my pc rebooting after installing MS updates.I lost the email too. Any solution?

I went into the MS updates settings & changed to "notify" so I'm hoping I did it correctly ?

The change you made in the update settings should do the trick.
