My Athlon Comes out as a Duron

I have a amd athlon 1.4 and it comes out as a duron 1.4 Ill add more info about my comp and stuff tomorow I gotta go sleep just posted this incase someone knows how to fix it without my spec =)

It's always possible that they sent you the wrong processor ;-). Hopefully not though.

Yes, that would be my first question.... are you sure it isn't really a Duron?

Where does it show up as a Duron? The BIOS?

Have you tried checking it with a CPUID program?

If the CPU is detected as a Duron in software, try the official AMD CPU id programs:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/cpuinfo.exe

If your BIOS identifies the CPU wrong, you may want to do a BIOS update.

Ok in bios it says its a amd k7 athlon, but when I start the comp it says duron at 1400 I if u need more info tell me but right now im sick so i dont feel like typing..im sorry
